Brenden Morrow Out 6 Months With a Torn ACL

You know, I've been predicted every season for the past 6 seasons that the Stars were going to falter, and every season they've made me look like a jackass. This season I finally don't predict a letdown and this looks like the season they finally falter. Just thought you'd like to know how this is affecting me personally.

I admit- that was my first thought too. I picked them to miss the playoffs last year, and buckled like a belt this year. I only care about Morrow insofar as it affects me. It's the American Way.

Yeah, I've been waiting for Dallas in the Pacific basement for years and years.

I'm even torn on the Ducks game tonight. Should the Blues win, that would put the Stars in 15th place in the west.

Well, let's go to OT and see what happens. :)

Dare I say that this opens the door ever slow slightly for a Kings playoff run? No, I daren't.

It might not be a bad year to get slightly optimistic, Rudy. I mean, we're essentially a quarter into the season, and who looks like a lock for the western playoffs?

San Jose, Detroit, with probablys from Chicago, Minnesota, and Vancouver. Point is, it's not as many "lock" teams as usual.

The last several years, there's been maybe two or three playoff spots to fight for. This year it may be up to five, and I'm not ruling anybody out.

Not even these Morrow-less Stars.

Ducks are probably 3-4 years behind the Stars. Sharks 4-5. Let it be so!

I'm not a Dallas fan but I'm a big Morrow fan. Too bad.
Couldn't happen to Avery, could it?
I guess the Spleen was enough punishment from the gods.

Ducks are probably 3-4 years behind the Stars. Sharks 4-5.

So what does that make the Kings, 20 years behind?

by Earl Sleek on Nov 21, 2008 4:45 PM PST reply actions

I believe we are 2-3 years ahead in this scenario. The Coyotes are in the present, which is kind of sad.

by RudyKelly on Nov 21, 2008 4:47 PM PST reply actions

I guess the really sad thing about the Stars this year is their start feels very similar to the start Anaheim had last year. Injuries and a lot of sloppy play from all positions.

It's like a cup hangover without, you know, the cup. It'd be tragic if it weren't so awesome.

by Earl Sleek on Nov 21, 2008 4:50 PM PST reply actions

no we are zero years behind, i.e. behind right now.

Yeah, we all wish our rivals have so much more success than our own team. I feel your pain, Rudy.

season FAIL!

I understand why you parallel it to the Ducks woes last year, but I think the Stars mirror the other Dallas teams closer. This reminds me of the Mavericks' season last year: a miserable clusterfuck that will eventually get its coach fired.

Too bad Dave Tippett doesn't have an awesome cajun accent.

haha me too. I thought the dallas stars would suck every year, but they dont. I think the signing of Avery sure screwed them over. Remember modano's comments on ott and avery? the team is on the decline and theyre screwed without morrow. Time to rebuild!! my thoughts http://jib-sports-culture.blogspot.com/2008/11/morrow-out-for-season-stars-are-done.html

As you all know The Ducks blue line is suffering pretty badly. Wiz being banished to the Islanders really doesn't help much. What I'm about to suggest is crazy, probably not legal, and absolutely absurd. But desperate times call for desperate measures.

That is a picture of my girlfriend's dog, Mia. And the holder of that hockey stick is me. Every once in awhile I'll practice stick handling in my kitchen with a small tennis ball. The other day, this interested Mia and she sort of made a game out of it. I try to stick handle around her and she trys to get the ball. At first this was no challenge to me, but then the little bastard started getting really good. So, here's my solution:

The Ducks sign Mia to a 3 year entry level contract. She can't stick handle, check, pass, shoot, has no concept of what team she's on, and has pretty shitty cardio. But from a team that once employed the likes of Ryan Whitney and Steve Eminger, this is all easily forgivable. On the up side, she'll never take a penalty.... Unless they add biting or pissing on the ice to the NHL rule book. She's relentless.... Unless the opponents all bring bacon which they use as a distraction.
