Kings Gameday: MAPLE LEAFS MAPLE LEAFS MAPLE LEAFS MAPLE LEAFS MAP

LA Kings (10-9-3) vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (8-9-3)

7:30 PST, Fox Sports West

Labarbera's in tonight, Boyle's out, hopefully Zeiler's on the bench. The Leafs score more than you'd think but also let in a lot of goals. I've actually liked the Leafs since they moved to the East and I think they'll become good faster than people think. But today I hope the Kings embarrass them in front of their new GM.

Prediction: Kings win, 5-4. Goals by Kopitar (x2), Moller, Frolov and Labarbera.

Is that the Toronto media?

That's what I was going for, yes.

by RudyKelly on Dec 1, 2008 9:49 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

That was my first guess. My second was Corey Perry.

My second was Corey Perry.

But that dog didn't even go near a goaltender, and stayed on its feet the whole time!

I think its Burke introducing Toronto to his mouth.

by brokeyard on Dec 1, 2008 11:21 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

I had never watched that all the way through. I love it!

The media was my first thought as well. Sundin Burke Sundin Burke Sundin Burke Balsillie Sundin Burke Sundin Burke Sundin Burke Sundin Burke Sundin Burke Balsillie Sundin Burke Sundin Burke Sundin Burke Sundin Burke

I care nothing about any of them, and I'd imagine a chunk of folks outside of Toronto don't, either. Actually, reading he comments on tsn lately, I don't think most folks in Toronto even care.

Kings win, 5-4. Goals by Kopitar (x2), Moller, Frolov and Labarbera.

Really? LaBarbera? Well, somebody unexpected has to score. I would've picked Boyle, who was just sent down to Manchester yesterday.

By the way, going back to that "state rape" graphic from a couple days ago, what would happen if one of the teams went 3-0 against the Sabres, Rangers, and Islanders, or went 2-0 against the Oilers and Flames? Do the Kings, Sharks, and Ducks all have to beat the other team to bust out the rape graphic?

by Kevin Y on Dec 1, 2008 3:17 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

The precedent is that if a team or teams from a geographic area get swept by at least 2 of the CA teams, then that area got raped. I think. I don't know, ask Earl.

Do the Kings, Sharks, and Ducks all have to beat the other team to bust out the rape graphic?

Oh no, not by any means. In fact, the biggest criterion for State Rape eligibility is whether Sleek feels lazy or not.

Every previous state rape is listed at the bottom of this post, so feel free to click around and see what the "justification" was. The first chapter wasn't about the Sharks and Kings at all, for example, but rather the Angels, Lakers, and (Mighty) Ducks. The NY state rape was just about two game results on the same day. The Battle of Ontario one was about 3 BoC teams vs. 2 BoO teams for a regular season.

So basically, there's no hard rules for State Rape qualification. It only needs to inspire me, I think.

Rudy Thanks so very much for the laugh.

Speaking of state rape, I'm watching a Toronto feed of the game tonight and Neil Diamond (yes...Neil Diamond!) is coming to the Air Canada Center on December 2nd! I couldn't wait to let everyone know.

I want to bludgeon the Leafs guys with a pipe.

Why, what's your grudge against pipes?

Rudy: I want to bludgeon the Leafs guys with a pipe.

agreed. How frustrating was that? Toskala played well in the third. Dammit. I like the new jerseys, but we're 0-2 in them so far. Let's hope they're the only 2 losses in them.
