Congratulations to Anaheim's hard-working robot voters for making the Anaheim Ducks one of the four teams featured among the 2009 NHL All-Star Game starting lineup. It's looking like Ryan Getzlaf, Scott Niedermayer, and J.S. Giguere will join three Blackhawks among the western conference starters.
Hooray for online voting farces!

Earl losing faith in the Ducks?
Sure they blow leads like crazy, but come on what’s this stuff lately? Criticizing Brian Hayward’s commentary, suggesting that you’ve voluntarily watched Sharks games, and now implying that Getzlaf might not actually deserve the vote? Sure the process by which the voting is done is a bit…dumb.. but is Crosby’s vote into it equally a “farce”? Because he’s barely, BARELY ahead of Getzlaf in points. Earl, come back to the Quack Side.
Was it not one of the great Earl’s in history, the Earl of Worcestor, who said:
Though sometimes it show greatness, courage, blood,
And that’s the dearest grace it renders you,
Yet oftentimes it doth present harsh rage,
Defect of manners, want of government,
Pride, haughtiness, opinion and disdain:
The least of which haunting a nobleman
Loseth men’s hearts and leaves behind a stain
Upon the beauty of all parts besides,
Beguiling them of commendation.

I've always been cynical about the All-Star Game
In fact, if I had my preference, zero Ducks would go waste their weekends in Montreal. Here‘s the only post I’ve ever written about All-Star voting, and as you can see, it doesn’t quite encourage people to vote for Anaheim’s candidates.

Also I hope you know I wasn't serious
I simply refuse to use the tags is all. I actually read a bit of your comments at the link you provided above and I found them both funny and pro-Anaheim. It was hilarious when that one guy complained that there were more deserving people and you basically said “Well, I guess the NHL should continue the policy of having the game mean absolutely nothing.”
But anyway I wanted to clear that up, I just simply can’t have you thinking I was dead serious, even though the Shakespeare quote should have tipped you off.

Oh wait one more thing
At that All-Star post link you just provided, when you say “feathers in the cap” you don’t happen to be referencing Catch-22, do you?

Only if it makes me look smarter. Nah, I probably just meant the colloquialism, seeing as I never actually read Catch-22.

Added today to the western conference team:
G – Luongo, Backstrom
D – Lidstrom, Souray, Boyle, Weber
F – Iginla, Hejduk, Nash, Modano, Datsyuk, Brown, Doan, Tkachuk, Thornton
All told, 8 of the 21 western players come from the Pacific Division.

You know how on ESPNews they showed the All-Star reserves on the bottom line? Yeah, they actually did that. Anyway, they very “conveniently ” left out Brown from their list.
Fuck you, Denis Gauthier
