Kings Gameday: Terry Murray, Genius?

Los Angeles Kings at Phoenix Coyotes, Nov 2, 2009 6:00 PM PST

I don't know what to think anymore.  You probably all know that I run on Beefeater and anger and I'm running dangerously low on both recently.  I mean, think about what I had to get mad about last year: John Zeiler, Terry Murray's insane line changes, Jason Labarbera, Brian Willsie (he wasn't on the Kings, but his shittiness was like a nuclear power plant for my anger energy), Jack Johnson getting hurt, the Kings losing, Kopitar struggling, Brown forgetting how to play at the end of the season... I had a lot to be angry about.  This season?  Not much.  The one thing I had was the fact that Peter Harrold was playing but now that Teddy Purcell has been put on the 4th line with Raitis Ivanans and Brad Richardson, I don't even have that.  I swear, if the Kings call up Richard Clune and play him in place of Ivanans I might start pimping Terry Murray for the Jack Adams.

Star-divide

Teddy Purcell has been moved to make room for the return of Justin Williams, who retakes his place alongside Anze Kopitar and Ryan Smyth.  I thought it was funny that Terry Murray recently explained that a player can't lose his spot because of an injury, yet Scott Parse was called up in Williams' stead and kinda stole Teddy Purcell's job; I guess you can only lose your spot because of someone else's injury.

***

See?  That was me trying to muster up some sort of anger about Purcell getting demoted but it doesn't ring true.  Bench Fro again, call Drew Doughty a fag, someone do something to piss me off.

Maybe Earl and I should switch places, this feels weird.

Prediction: Kings win, 4-1.  Goals by Justin Williams (x2), Simmonds and Ted Purcell.

Patrick O’Neal still has a job as a sideline commentator/asswipe for Fox Sports West. It’s not really anger inducing, but it’s irritating as fuck… meh.

May I also recommend Jameson as a nice substitute when you tire of Beefeater and need some whiskey to help stoke the inner flames. Delicious. And no I’m not pimping it because of the whole Irish factor. I hate Lucky Charms, so there’s that.

I was thinking the other day that the Kings should just get Kermit the Frog to be their sideline reporter, first as a joke and then as a serious suggestion. Imagine Kermit saying, “Hi ho, Handzus!” and then Handzus just staring at him with that blank stare. I laughed for like 20 minutes the first time I thought of it.

that reminds me of that classic kermit and the pork fingers joke that every kid gets introuduced to in elementary school

thinking about how that actual situation would play out is funny and disturbing at the same time

"Hi ho, Handzus!"

Jesus, that is great. After trying my best to subdue my laughter at my desk at work I started thinking of every Kings player being interviewed by Kermit and Zeus is hands down the funniest. Good stuff. I would love to see Kermit interview Marty McSorley too just to see Kermit confuse him.

You son of a…you can mock Jimmy but don’t you dare sully Bob Millers good name!

by Nut on Nov 2, 2009 1:01 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

i wish i had a good way to mock the way jim fox talks..the way he rambles on..then ends his sentence all stupid..i dont think ive ever heard anyone talk like that
its almost like he says “hey boo boo” at the end of every sentence..or that tone..only way to describe it like yogi bear

so somthing like this:

kopitar wheeled around and took a shot..he skated around and received the pass..but
hiller for the ducks was right there and saw the shot…and “hey boo boo” made the save the save

The best way to write how Jim Fox ends his sentences is like this:

“Kopitar receives the pass!- makestheniceplay.”

He lowers at the end. He raises the line just before his last line, then finishes low.

Oh shit, of course

It’s so complex and beautiful…brings a tear to my eye.

Bob Miller doesn't wear the Hairmulke anymore

He cut it off when I wrote in circa 2001. Yes, I am the reason.

Rudy,

You have to face a real Superstar on Thursday. Think of him blowing around his old High School buddy (Jack Johnson) and let that anger boil…

One of my wishes for the season is coming true.

Babs is starting in goal tonight.

by RealDrew on Nov 2, 2009 5:21 PM PST reply actions

That was so gratifying to watch from the other side of the ice.

by Nut on Nov 2, 2009 6:57 PM PST up reply actions

It was everything I had hoped for

and more.

Nice road win against a tough opponent.

Nice to see Smyth get a couple goals. Even though I Williams played poorly in the first two periods, he seemed to help out the first line quite a bit tonight.

With that said, the Kings don’t win if Bryzgaloff plays tonight. If Bryz is playing tonight, the Kings are down 3-0 going into the third.

by RealDrew on Nov 2, 2009 8:29 PM PST up reply actions

That was a good win. We need to learn how to not let up in the second period though.

by Nut on Nov 2, 2009 8:20 PM PST reply actions

Looks like you’re going to have to pick up some Beefeater Rudy. Anger just isn’t going to cut it.

both teams played good hockey, i watched it. I needed to see a decent game of hockey.

however i think the score would’ve been different with bryz in goal for the yotes.

but on a funnier note, i can see jason labarbera asking dave tippet " put me in coach, i know all their moves, i can do it."

hahahahaha

As you all know The Ducks blue line is suffering pretty badly. Wiz being banished to the Islanders really doesn't help much. What I'm about to suggest is crazy, probably not legal, and absolutely absurd. But desperate times call for desperate measures.

That is a picture of my girlfriend's dog, Mia. And the holder of that hockey stick is me. Every once in awhile I'll practice stick handling in my kitchen with a small tennis ball. The other day, this interested Mia and she sort of made a game out of it. I try to stick handle around her and she trys to get the ball. At first this was no challenge to me, but then the little bastard started getting really good. So, here's my solution:

The Ducks sign Mia to a 3 year entry level contract. She can't stick handle, check, pass, shoot, has no concept of what team she's on, and has pretty shitty cardio. But from a team that once employed the likes of Ryan Whitney and Steve Eminger, this is all easily forgivable. On the up side, she'll never take a penalty.... Unless they add biting or pissing on the ice to the NHL rule book. She's relentless.... Unless the opponents all bring bacon which they use as a distraction.
