There's a story today on Cycle like the Sedins that analyzes a new trend in the NHL: successful goalie tandems.
The Stars suffered greatly during Marty Turco's early season meltdown and, on some level, must have missed Mike Smith. Workhorse goalies including Martin Brodeur and Roberto Luongo went down with fatigue-related injuries. Yet, teams with goalie tandems (especially the Boston Bruins) prosper more than ever. Just look at Anaheim: able to stick around the playoff bubble despite Giguere's troubles thanks to Jonas Hiller.
What do you think? Are goalie platoons an anomaly or the way of the future?
