Who the hell really knows?
But I do like that there’s multiple bidders, plus no pressing need to trade away Captain Elbows. If GM Murray’s a smart cookie, there may be some opportunity. But it better be a “wow”-type package.

Give Us
Malkin. But in all seriousness, Prongs is a good D-man and what we lack most is a little offensive punch. With Giggy appearing to be back today against Calgary and Hiller being, well, Hiller, we are set back there, and out D is not what it once was, but it’s still one of the best in the league, so if we get a solid goal scorer who can be signed for a couple mill. over the next few years It’ll give us a good shot in the spring.
The coments make me laugh
NJ is set, we don’t need Pronger etc.
That may be true if your objective is losing in the finals to SJ or DET, but then again Pronger might not even be able to change that for those teams out east.
I like Earl’s take on this. If Chris or Scott are not 100% comited to Anaheim we should move them now and reload. We could get pretty good really quick that way. As it is I think our window for a 2nd cup with this group has closed, and that maybe reason enough to move them.
Interesting the Yahoo! story mentions the Devils, Bruins, Flyers, and Capitals as potential suitors. The only team I’ve heard as having any serious interest is the Canadiens, who aren’t mentioned once in the article.*
*An NHL article that doesn’t make any mention of the Canadiens or Rangers? Never thought the day would come.
Fuck you, Denis Gauthier. You deserved that 5-game suspension.
I read that yeasterday
The most telling thing I got from that article was they said the Ducks are actively shopping Pronger.
I just don’t see how giving away Pronger makes us better, especially in the long term.

If it’s a giveaway, then sure, it’s going to suck regardless. But I dunno — to say that every trade that Pronger goes away cannot be a winner — that’s probably too rigid. He’s a quality player on a reasonable deal though — unless there’s a lot of that coming back in a trade, you’re right — it’d be tough to improve on.

Well I was just thinking of Burke’s words – “a #1 pick and a kid” and how completely average that sounds. I see that and think, “That’s it? That blows.”

Fuck Burkie, though. If he ain’t bidding, I could care less what he would have paid. And if he ain’t our GM, I could care less what he would have accepted.
Pronger’s worth more than that or he stays, I think.

The thing is, Burke would love to have Pronger. I think he is trying to down play what Pronger is worth so he might get him cheaper. I am really glad now that Nonis did not succeed Burke. I feel if he did Burke would have his way with us because he put his puppet in place before he left. It seemed like that is what he was trying to do.
How about TOR #1 next year and a kid named Luke Schenn, whould you do that Earl? That #1 could be a lotterey pick, and we all know a couple big names in this comming draft.
I remember reading a day or two ago that Burke said Schenn specifically was off the table… but for Pronger and a pick… hmmmmm…

Chris Pronger: “I have not asked for a trade.”
I haven’t followed the links yet in that story, but it’s on my list once this damn workday is over.
