Ducks Gameday—Seven games to go
Colorado Avalanche (spoilers) at Anaheim Ducks (spoilees)
Mile High Hockey -- where I guess things could be worse.
Another opportunity to get back on pace with the bubble -- or blow it big time -- tonight. I won't be around until about the midpoint of the game, by which time I expect tonight's game to be pretty much decided. Let's hope for some good news tonight, or else we'll probably be reduced to this:

May I take your coat?
Prediction: No predictions today -- it just hasn't been the same since Pahlsson left.
Go Ducks.

Hey ES, in the upcoming intermission, rewind your TiVo to about the 9:00 mark of the 2nd period for more Hiller antics.
Too right. Some incredible plays in this game so far. If the Ducks manage to win, it’s going to feel somewhat anticlimactic b/c they’ll still be out of the 8th spot.
Yeah, there’s no happy ending tonight. Just a choice between a rotten ending and a so-so one.
Let’s go so-so!

Man, Nashville and St. Louis both won?
In Detroit and Columbus, no less? I smell a Central Division fix.
You’d better be paying attention to that, Sharks.

I know there’s not much use in looking back, but Hiller’s play tonight really makes me wonder what might have been if he’d been the starting goalie against the OIlers.
Yeah, but at least now we know who’s #1 down the stretch. A costly lesson, but one that did need some answering still.

I’m just afraid Carlyle is still going to give Jiggy the benefit of doubt.
Sucks.

Friday’s game in a nutshell:
Oilers score on their first two shots, Carlyle pulls Giguere. Two seconds later, Parros gets in a fight, and Carlyle re-inserts Giguere. Ducks put on a lot of pressure and tie the game at two, but then, even faster, the next two Oilers shots go in. Giguere gets pulled for good, Ducks get a lot of chances but can only beat Roloson once more before Kotalik’s empty-netter.
Basically it was 55 minutes going one way, but those two sequences killed us. I don’t know if Giguere is squarely to blame for all the goals (Selanne and Mikkelson had some rotten giveaways), but he didn’t make a save during a tied-game-situation nor on the shot right afterwards.
