Versus Strong Survive Commercial

I really like the new Versus Strong Survive Commercial:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LMEa0TVY_4

Thoughts?

The script for the voice over:

here is the thing that makes life so interesting

the theory of evolution claims only the strong shall survive

maybe so, maybe so

but the theory of competition says

just because they are the strong doesn't mean they can't get their asses kicked

that's right

see what every long shot come from behind underdog will tell you is this

the other guy may in fact be the favorite

the odds may be stacked against you, fair enough

but what the odds don't know is this isn't a math test

this is a completely different kind of test

one where passion has a funny way of trumping logic

so before you step up to the starting line

before the whistle blows and the clock starts ticking

just remember out here

the results don't always add up

no matter what the stats may say

and the experts may think

and the commentators may have predicted

when the race is on all bets are off

don't be surprised if somebody decides to flip the script take a pass on yelling uncle

and then suddenly, as the old saying goes we got ourselves a game

Good post, because I mentioned this commercial today. I totally hate commercials, and even the idea of them, but this one I’m quite fond of. Well written, well read, and a good damn montage of all walks of sport as the backdrop.

Versus shockingly gets a plus.

Oh, and I went ahead and embedded the video for you — we’re a lazy bunch.

Nice!

I too was shocked that Versus did something right for a change, but I guess they were due.

Really? I thought it was cheesy as hell.

Nobody cares about your opinion.

I enjoyed it

A little long, but an effective theme. And is that the actor who played Rawls on The Wire doing the voice over? Whether it is or not, they had me once I heard that voice; great choice.

I also enjoyed how they work their programming offerings in as if they’re a natural fit. I mean, I’m following a sport that is ignored by most of America, so I guess I can’t really talk on the matter, but the juxtaposition of hockey, bow-hunting, cycling, fishing, MMA, and bull-riding still made me chuckle.

Lighthouse Hockey: Side effects may include Weight gain and frequent game loss.

We were sitting in section 12, in our season seats for that SC Stanford game. Fucking Tavita freaking Pritchard. Cost us a BCS championship. Every time I see this commercial, a die a little inside.
