Good News/Better News

Good News: Dave Tippett was fired by the Dallas Stars.  This is good because Dave Tippett is a good coach and I don't want the Stars to be good.

Better News: The person the Stars are looking at hiring?  Would you believe Marc Crawford?  This is better because Marc Crawford is, to be kind, a fucking bitch.  Wait, that wasn't kind.  Be he's not a good coach.

Even Better News: If the Kings hired Tippett as an assistant coach.

Update: And now Francois Allaire has signed on with the Maple Leafs.  God, this day just keeps getting better and better.  Hey, this bottle of Early Times I found in the dumpster still has a few sips left!  Everything's coming up Rudy!

All that’s left is for the Oilers to trade Sheldon Souray to the Kings.

(Please God no.)

I’d rather see that Sam Gagne for John Zeiler trade go through

Not a good first move for the new GM (if he had any say in the matter).

Marc Crawford? Seriously? So much for the Stars turning it around.

whoa, that Allaire news is far bigger than the tippett news.

Me and my buddy were just discussing after our hockey game where Giguere might go in a trade, and I was wondering about Toronto, as they had Burke already and no goalie in place. Allaire being there might really make that a sweet deal for Giguere. TOR has cap space, Giguere’s goalie coach and GM, and Giguere gets to pick where he goes in any trade. That’s definitely an interesting situation for next year.

Now that they took Alaire, I really hope they trade for Giguere. I do not want to see him ride out the next 13 million bucks with his style and no Alaire.

When asked to extend his contract, Alaire said he wanted to see what other teams were interested. I would bet he knew what other team (Burke) wanted him. I am sure it was discussed privately prior to Burke leaving. Otherwise why would he jump ship after 13 seasons with Anaheim.

It was real classy of Burke to then say publicly: “I want to thank the Anaheim organization for letting Alaire go”

although it does smoke screen the though of a Burke hand shake deal prior to him leaving Anaheim, so I can see why Burke took that shot. He is a crafty lawyer (GM).

My big questions now are: How many more of these pokers does Burke have in the fire. Will this mean Hiller wants out (since he chose Anaheim because of Alaire?

In the end I hope these deals work out as well for Burke as the former Vancouver players he brought to Anaheim did for us, but I doubt it.

for calling Hossa an ass and a fuckhead in the same paragraph. A loss tonight in game 7 will enable Hossa to achieve Douche-canoe status!

dammit. i hate this coaching move.

tippett deserved at least 1 more season with this crew.

why so hasty, joey??

i think tippett’s going to calgary.

And didn’t he lose his best offensive and defensive player for most of the season. Take away Nik Lidstrom and Henrik Zetterberg and see how good the Red Wings are.

I never thought I’d say this, but they should have kept Brett Hull.

Vancouver hires Brown as assistant
As you all know The Ducks blue line is suffering pretty badly. Wiz being banished to the Islanders really doesn't help much. What I'm about to suggest is crazy, probably not legal, and absolutely absurd. But desperate times call for desperate measures.

That is a picture of my girlfriend's dog, Mia. And the holder of that hockey stick is me. Every once in awhile I'll practice stick handling in my kitchen with a small tennis ball. The other day, this interested Mia and she sort of made a game out of it. I try to stick handle around her and she trys to get the ball. At first this was no challenge to me, but then the little bastard started getting really good. So, here's my solution:

The Ducks sign Mia to a 3 year entry level contract. She can't stick handle, check, pass, shoot, has no concept of what team she's on, and has pretty shitty cardio. But from a team that once employed the likes of Ryan Whitney and Steve Eminger, this is all easily forgivable. On the up side, she'll never take a penalty.... Unless they add biting or pissing on the ice to the NHL rule book. She's relentless.... Unless the opponents all bring bacon which they use as a distraction.
