Ducks Sign Boynton

Nice work by Murray.
Boynton has most of Pronger's nastiness, but doesn't have his offensive upside, experience, or baggage. This rounds out the D corps. On twitter the signing was apparently 1 year for $1.5m, a bargain price.
This is a good enough team to go to camp now. We'll see if there's any movement with Giguere, but they can now use that to fill any huge gaps that show up in actual play instead of paper.

I’m always willing to be surprised, but I honestly don’t anticipate being able to move Giguere until the trade deadline at the earliest — once most of this year’s salary is paid and some playoff team’s goaltending goes to crap, then it might be feasible.
Until then, though, I think we start the season with Jiggy — and it may be a good thing to do. With all the blueline turnaround, it’s definitely worth seeing how both goalies react to the changing of the guard. Heck, it may even turn out that come trade deadline, we hold on vehemently to Giguere — here’s hoping that’s the case. I like a Jiggy that stops pucks.

Heh, my first thought when I read “Ducks sign Boynton” was “HUGE MISTAKE!” Then I see the term and money… Nice. With his regression I expected the guy to become a boat anchor contract for someone who panics and signs him long term based on past success. Seems that no-one was willing to do that, and well, Boynton’s loss was the Ducks’ gain.
Oh...
…I didn’t mean to say he didn’t have baggage, just not Pronger’s baggage. That’s not really saying much, but I like to write in threes. (;
