So the expectation is that Frodo gets moved by the deadline this year? What’s the pessimism about the notion about an extension? Lombardi’s reluctance to give players raises?
Oh, and just because I looked it up, I’ll mention Frolov’s contract status — last season before UFA status, gets paid $4M this season for a cap hit of $2.9M.

I was about to write that Frolov wouldn’t get traded at the deadline because the Kings would still be sniffing a playoff spot, but then I realized that trading Frolov while the Kings were in contention is a very Dean Lombardi thing to do. More likely, though, Frolov leaves at the end of the year. There are rumors he could possibly sign an extension, but I’m not getting my hopes up. Always think the worst, then you’ll never be disappointed!
And I’m pretty sure Frolov’s contract was the best thing Dave Taylor ever did.

I don’t know. In my experience (especially with regards to certain personality types found in blog comments sections), there is a type of fan who expects the worst and then is disappointed anyway, either because he didn’t really expect the worst but was just acting like it as a kind of vaccine, or because the worst not happening means he was wrong and so he now must set about proving how he really wasn’t wrong and the worst really did transpire despite appearances. My favorite being a guy who predicted the Kings would be lucky to get 50 points last season and who then said he was through with the Kings because they got to 79, instead of — I guess — the playoffs.
