All game long Perry was crashing into his own players and taking stupid penalties, and then he capped everything off by not being able to defend on the empty-net goal.

Why is this worthless man on the Canadian roster?

Never go to the South for any reason.

by Megalodon on Feb 21, 2010 11:10 PM PST reply actions

Selection probably wasn’t based on his empty-net defense.

It was awesome how horrible Getzlaf and Perry were.

Good thing Doughty saved the day for the Canadians

Doughty played great — no need to knock him there. And Canada played pretty good, too. Shots were 45-23.

But Rudy has his highlight.

I’m just confused by outright negativity sometimes. Then I remember this is sports, it’s important that certain people fail.

Shots are 45-23

And the Americans won by 2 goals… Sounds a lot like a playoff series I desperately try not to remember.

It’s good to see that you think the Sharks played really well last year against the Ducks.

Did you see Doughty in the last few minutes?

I swear he set up like 4 golden opportunities… Not his fault none of them could convert…

Same for Joe Thornton, but still considered to be performing "subpar"

Despite centering the most consistent line for Canada these Oylmpics

I’d expect something like this from Latvia, or Belarus. But Canada?

Maybe it’s not fair to blame the entire country, maybe it’s just Corey Perry’s gay-ness that can be at fault here.

Denis Gauthier sucks at hockey... and life.

by Kevin Y on Feb 21, 2010 11:43 PM PST reply actions

Uh, that’d be unfair to Canada, but yeah, feel free to blame the country of Latvia whenever that’s convenient.

Didn’t Perry get like a lacerated kidney or something on this? I don’t know… but with the Ducks’ luck, that’s very possible.

Denis Gauthier sucks at hockey... and life.

You’ll notice in the replay that the Canadians do a rare double take-out with a hit-and-roll.

Quite a curling trick, actually.

I’m not sure they played that crappy, but to be fair, I did watch Teemu and Saku in the game afterwards — that was truly awful.

I was actually pretty surprised at how indifferent I was toward Getz and Perry, and Niedermayer’s bitch move after the end of the 2nd caused a temporarily loss of respect for him, but I figured Erik Johnson must have had it coming.

Canada::the three stooges of hockey

It made for some fun laughs in the lab today, I called everyone over to watch (for once the video wasn’t blocked), we laughed and laughed and laughed.

Let's go Ducks.

Why is Perry so lovable to gain this kind of pleasure from his misfortune?

I guess I see your angles though. For me it would be like watching Roenik collide with Bret Hull, and then have Chelios fall on top of the both of them after the fact, with Hull skating away with blood dripping from his nose.

That would be like Christmas in February.
Maybe because it was Stall and not Getzlaf Perry ran into explains why there is not more support in the comments section.

by Mike in OC on Feb 22, 2010 3:26 PM PST reply actions

Staal is weird looking. He looks like the result of some bizarre experiment to combine Getzlaf and Perry. He has Getzlaf’s sour expression and general unpleasantness and Perry’s bizarre albinism and beady eyes.

The West Coast is the Best Coast.

by RudyKelly on Feb 22, 2010 3:37 PM PST up reply actions

For me it wasn’t who was in the pile-up but rather that it was the Canadian team who did it. And actually I probably would have laughed just as much if it had been USA who did it, it is just a funny** sight to see 3 NHL players crash and burn, they are suppose to be better than that.

**Funny is only funny as long as no one got injured.

Let's go Ducks.

It was Corey Perry, therefore it was hilarious.
