Damn good post — quite shocking, really — I was surprised by names on both lists (above and below the Train). That Wolski must be having a crazy good year.

I think “Meat Train” was Cat Stevens’ B-side of “Peace Train.”

Why stop with the Red Sweater, Heidi? We need quite a few more goals, so feel free to start taking it all off, please!

how funny … I glanced at the scores and it was 3-2 … hopped over here to read the comments and see your “oh hells yeah”, glance back over at the scores and Kings had tied it up

Intermission time! More Oscar Moller facts:
Once, as a child, he got lost in the stuffed animal section of his local toystore (FLUUFMART).

It took five hours to find him.

Oh, Adam Deadmarsh. Poor guy…now I’m tearing up. I really need a nap to get this fever down, but…my hatred. Of the Wings. Is SO STRONG. Urk…

Fuck yeah.
Nice win Kings. Nice win.
I read that Anaheim would be sellers if they were lower than 4th around the deadline. The rumor mongers like Elkund predict Scott going to Chicago in light of the NJ deal, and I must say, even though I know it’s mostly B.S., if Scott goes anywhere, I would love to see him in LA with Drew. I think that one move would screw up alot of other clubs plans for 2010. LA is for real. (as much as it pains me to say it)
Congrats to J.S. for his second straight shutout. I’m sure they are voting him into the hall as we type…

I’m not even sure that makes sense — the playoffs wouldn’t be realistic if they were fifth in the west? Or is that fourth in the Pacific?

Sorry, I’ve been at the ice rink all day and never tried to reply via blackberry – until right now.
I understood it as 4th in the west. I think the underlying idea is, they want to be sure they make playoffs if they decide not to sell, and there just is not enough of a cusion in spots 5-8.
It’s all opinion anyway.

Well, good thing it’s sort of a moot point, I guess — I’d be pissed if the team decided to get weaker while already in a playoff spot.

I would as well. I think the main inspiration of the comment stems from this teams inability to get up for games from Oct thru Feb. This lack of urgency until the last minute and then they become one of the strongest teams in hockey only to win a low seed.
In 2007 we witnessed what they could do when they win their division. It sucks that even our post cup team could not dominate the regular season like the Wings and Sharks do regularly.

Well, it is worth saying that once Niedermayer rejoined the team, the 2007-08 Ducks went 32-12-4, which is a 116-point pace (would have won the Presidents’ Trophy), and also surrendered only 1.83 GA/gm (which would have won the Jennings Trophy). The team did get its legs eventually, but fell flat instantly in the postseason.

Well, the original idea was, I said I thought they needed to get 24 points out of the 20 games before the break
they started out by going 4-4-0. I did an update and said if they were 8-4 the rest of the way they would be “on pace.” Since then, they have won nine straight. So they have exceeded the target by two points, with three games left to go. Ten games ago, I said 8-4 would be “excellent.” So we’re clearly in excellent-plus territory.
Wait till this year.
