Kings Prospect Kozun Wins WHL Scoring Title
Which is apparently named for Bobby Clarke. Who knew?
Anyway, Kozun had four points in an 8-1 pounding of the Red Deer Rebels in the last game of the season to finish with 107 on the year, one ahead of Oilers prospect Jordan Eberle.

Awesome! Aside from the fact that Eberle was basically a national hero in the WJCs (despite Canada losing), why is nobody talking about Kozun? At least based on points, he should get as much (or close to the) attention that Eberle’s getting….. maybe it’s because Eberle is an Oilers prospect (who play in Canada), or that while Eberle is pure Canadian, Kozun is Canadian-American.
Denis Gauthier sucks at hockey... and life.
Well, part of it is that Eberle did it in eight fewer games than Kozun (and finished just two goals behind Kyle Beach of the Blackhawks in 11 fewer games). But yeah, I think most of it is The Goal from the ’09 World Juniors where he picked the puck out from under the Russian defender and roofed it with seconds on the clock to tie it. Everyone loves a Captain Clutch.
But I’m a huge Kozun fan. My mom and I have Hitmen season’s tickets (—>) and for her birthday, I “borrowed” her jersey and had it crested with “KOZUN 15” on it. I’m telling you right now, if he manages to avoid getting killed by some six-foot-five goon trying to make a name in the AHL, he’ll have a career. He takes a beating but stays in the play, and goes places little guys tend not to (the front of the net and the corner).
