Kings Gameday: Go Kings Go
I don't really have time to do a big update because hey, I have a job. (They want me to like, work and stuff. Dicks, man.) Anyway, the Kings play Nashville tonight, Fredrik Modin and Jeff Halpern are both playing, I hope Richard Clune fights Jordin Tootoo, go Kings go.
Prediction: Hey, what do you think you're doing? Get back to work, asshole!

Ducks fans think we’re upset, think about poor Visnovsky. Most of the time if you’re gonna get traded at the deadline, you’re going to a playoff-bound team. Poor guy.

Well, most of the time when you get traded days before your no-trade-clause kicks in, it’s because you’ve done something wrong. Besides, Lubo probably doesn’t even remember that there is a postseason.

Speaking of alienation, though — poor fucking Jonas. No need to fucking rub his face in it.

Photographer: “OK, guys, get in a row — you Canada guys group together over there, uh, Teemu, I can’t quite see your face. OK, that’s great. Oh, Jonas, I can’t see your medal, could you pull it out from under your Swiss jersey? Oh yeah, whoops, my bad. Uh, well, smile anyways!”

Well, they did have a ceremony right before the tournament — honored all the Duck Olympians, including Whitney, plus Grebeshkov, Visnovsky, and some braintrust guys like Kevin Lowe.
Then once the tournament ended they traded away their two Olympic athletes, picked up the worst of Anaheim’s, and for some reason kept the braintrust.

He did do something wrong. He made too much money and then had a sub-par season. Wish he didn’t, as he was my favorite player at the time, but them’s the breaks.

Well…they still didn’t have to lie to him and say he’d never be traded. No one forces you to say stuff like that.
In Dinglebarn We Trust
Very true. That’s no way to treat a Lubo. But there is no denying he didn’t have a good season the year before he was traded. And I doubt you find very many who don’t think we won that trade.
by Nut on Mar 4, 2010 4:40 PM PST up reply actions
They didn't lie to him and say he'd never be traded (unless I'm forgetting something)
They gave him a no-trade, which hadn’t kicked in yet. He’s got an agent to explain what that means, and what might happen if, for example, he sucked for the entire year before the contract took effect. The ironic thing about the Lubo situation is that by sucking he literally made it possible for us to pick Doughty, which is the very thing that made him expendable. There is an alternate reality in which Lombardi does not get Lubo signed early, Lubo has a great year, the Kings don’t finish tied for dead last in the league, but, say, 26th. Lubo and Lombardi don’t agree on a contract and he gets dealt at the deadline, and the Kings pick Pietrangelo with the 4th pick. And Doughty ends up in Atlanta.
Wait till this year.
Not gonna be able to watch most of the game (only the 1st period). I’m going to the Bon Jovi concert at Staples tonight.
Go Kings!

I guess there are a few positives to having your top two face off guys on the same line

Counting tonight, there are 20 games left in the season. I’m going to set the line for goals scored by Modin in a Kings Uniform this season at 4 1/2. Do you think Modin will be over or under?

OK, the musical interlude choice just bought Nashville an extra 2 more seasons before we force them to face contraction…

I’ll never understand why the Angels are on FSW with the Lakers and Kings. Especially since Cox in San Diego don’t carry Prime Ticket, so I never see the Dodgers.
That's actually correct grammar if you were in Nashville.
So I’ll allow it.

Even though we get FSW in San Diego, they always black out the Angels games here. Stupid Padres…

Interesting stat just shared by Nick with the radio audience – Since moving to the left side for the last 12 games, Jack Johnson is a +8.

Shea Weber sure likes shooting up high from the point. He was doing it during the Olympics (he hit Dany Heatley in the hand) and this game. I’m surprised his forwards haven’t kicked his ass yet.
I love Bob. So cute.
Although, if Jim would randomly say “Vote for Lubo” again, that would also be aces.

So is this an oddity for the Kings, or are the Preds just really good at messing us up? I think it’s more of the latter.
In Dinglebarn We Trust
I guess I’d rather believe it was the former, but the record is 0-5-1. That’s painful.
In Dinglebarn We Trust
Oh…I guess that does lead one to believe its the team then…
That is pretty bad.
Well at least they’re ine a different div. though.
So that's two teams I would like to avoid in the playoffs.
Vancouver and Nashville.
Wait till this year.
Agreed. I hate to say it, but I dread Vancouver. Ugh.
All those years when I only had HNIC for my hockey fix make this extra bitter.
In Dinglebarn We Trust
avoiding both will be tricky
one of vancouver and colorado will be 3rd, and the other will be 4th-7th, but most likely (in my opinion) 5th or 6th. Ideally, vancouver is either 3 or 6, and nashville is 7, and we avoid them. that means we will be tucked into 4 or 5 playing phoenix or colorado. the problem is vancouver. do we root for them to do well, finishing 3rd? but if colorado passes them, we then have to root against Vancouver, to push them down to 6th. just to be safe, i’m going to continue to root for everyone but the kings to lose.
Wait till this year.
I wouldn’t…We’ve played them well and our system does pretty well against theirs. We run into trouble against teams that clog the neutral zone and drag the pace down like Nashville and Vancouver (and Jersey, we only won that one with an amazing two minute finish)
