Sharks Postgame: Physics

Patrick Marleau comes alive, Logan Couture is awesome, Craig Anderson is a mere mortal, and Evgeni Nabokov is a superman.
THIS is how the series should have been all along. The Avalanche still have life, and will come out flying in the next game trying to avenge this humiliation, but this Sharks team will be more than ready for them.

Evgeni Nabokov is a superman.
Holy crud, his save percentage is up to a .931 now? That’s quite the re-ascent.

He made some key stops on weird angles and bounces, things that would have been heartbreaking goals in other post-seasons. He rocked.

In G5, every save is key. That’s — dare I say? — clutch.

He made some key stops on weird angles and bounces
Clearly he deserves the Vezina.
Also, even though I like the Devils I’m quite happy with their first round exit. This means Ilya probably won’t go back to them and it also lowers his asking price. Exactly has I planned. Bwahahahahaha!!!

If you drop the game he was terrible that we won

Two of those were all on Murray, one was off Vlasic’s throat. Nabby has been beastmaster thus far.

Boy it sure sucks in Colorado tonight

Whats all the hoopla about Tebow anyway?

He's actually a great guy
He’s a winner too… The hoopla (or criticism) is probably because of his faith… Which is unfortunate…

I thought it was because the scouts don’t think he can be an effective NFL quarterback? That’s what my Niners buddy was saying tonight at any rate.

that is the reason….also he played in a wacky “un-NFLish” system in college….QB’s that do that usually struggle in the NFL…his mechanics suck too…but there are exceptions…so the haters should shut the fuck up and at least wait till the guy takes a snap…

If the Bronco's try to play him this year
The Haters will be proven right.
It’s extremely rare for any QB to make any kind of impact their first year in the league. They need a year to get acquainted to the new systems.

Tebow will be effective his first year...

He was fine tonight. He may not have a ton of points, but he’s playing a fine series. He’s definitely tiring out the Avs who are working to shut him down, and the other lines are benefiting.

Officiating
They were absolutely terrible tonight. Not the only reason (Avs sucked most of the game), but it’s painful to watch officiating that’s clearly as one-sided as it was tonight.

Hmmmm…maybe the Avs should stop trying to cheat constantly, then the refs wouldn’t have to keep sending them to the box! Or at least take lessons from the Ducks on how to do so effectively…
Not surprised about the complaints about the refs, though. Avs fans have been complaining about the refs after wins! After an embarassing loss…I’d guess it’s a coping mechanism.

It’s not the Avs’ fault they lost because
1) the refs are on the Sharks side
2) the San Jose ice was bad
3) the Sharks are bigger and stronger and hurt a bunch of Avs players
4) the Sharks are a way better team.
5) the Avalanche suck
Anything I missed?

Bad ice is the last refuge of the cold weather fan. Nevermind the fact that San Jose is going to have better ice because they don’t have the NBA playoffs going on in the same venue.

if the ice is bad for the avs, its bad for the sharks also. do they not realize that?
They seem completely oblivious to that fact. Regardless of if the ice sucked or not, the Avs lost, I say, suck it up and deal with it. Aside from sucky ice or not, the Avs played like shit and the Sharks had an amazing game. No ice in the world would have made a fucking difference.

The Avs were just bad, plain and simple. Officiating is what it is in the playoffs, you have to be able to rise above the calls or non-calls. Anderson was terrible last night, the Avs sustained no pressure and the Sharks played very well. The Avs looked very slow and tired.
by hockeychic on Apr 23, 2010 7:33 AM PDT reply actions 1 recs
I only watched the highlights on NHL on the Fly, but on the last 3 goals Anderson looked like he was extremely tired or wasn’t trying very hard.
I noticed after the Sharks scored their first two that Anderson was looking rattled. It only makes sense, with the work-load he’s had so far. I’m sure he’ll be strong for the next game.

this is our team! They’ve got people rooting for them (one-sidedly for sure)…so why not say….let him be tuckered out so we can rattle his brain again so they can put in good ol buddha. Last night’s game was beautiful…up 3-0 the last two goals were just extra frosting on the already frosted cake. :D

Battle of California
True story: when I was working in a big bookstore in high school all the clerks used to play games with the nametags, making new ones and switching them on the aprons, and finally one person made a Satan one. Well, I ended it up with it one day when I didn’t check, and a patron pointed it out to me. “Why do you have SATAN on your nametag?” I played it all bashful: "Oh, I get that all the time — you say it “Shay-tan” — it’s Slovakian actually." And the lady just went, “Oh, you poor girl.”
Hockey is so useful.
