Report: Nabokov to Flyers

Reports have Nabokov going to the Flyers in exchange for a seventh-round pick, providing the Flyers can sign Nabby to a new deal. This fits in with the rumors we heard on draft day. Since we as Sharks fans already said goodbye to Nabokov, this can only be good news: not only do we get something back in exchange rather than nothing (and the seventh round is two earlier than the ninth, when Nabokov was drafted!), we also ensure that Nabokov goes FAR away, and he won't become a Kiprusoff-like specter haunting us for years to come.

Godspeed, John Nabokov.

Is it okay if he becomes a Toskala-like specter in net?

That is acceptable.

ummm … not acceptable unless playing against us … I love Nabby and want to see him do great … :)

Considering the Flyers are a much better team than the Leafs, Nabby will probably be fine. Any goalie playing on Toronto would have a rough time.

Doesn’t help when you go out of your way to swat pucks into your own net. I actually thought the Leafs were going to beat the Sabres that day…

Really? Philadelphia can’t outbid three or four teams this Thursday?

We’ll see, though — seems they got suckered on their Hamhius bid. Don’t know why Nabby would be enthusiastic to limit his options.

I guess you could say it’s because the goalie market is saturated, whereas the market for a guy like Hamhuis isn’t…but that’s a very good point.

To me, signing players that are set to be become free agents in this offseason just seems like a waste of resources. Especially if this Nabby rumor is true. He Knows that The Sharks aren’t going to resign him. Right? I mean, I read that shit on THN. I would hope he’s at least that informed.

Considering the story mentioned Wilson sitting down with Nabokov and letting him know face to face a week ago, I’m sure Nabokov knows. I guess the only way this makes sense is if Philadelphia was one of the places Nabokov wanted to go anyway.

A ha:

Sources tell TSN that while lines of communication remain open, Nabokov has indicated to the Flyers that he is likely to test the market and become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Well, I guess they figured a 7th rounder wasn’t much, and it didn’t hurt to try.

I was going to say it might not be a bad strategy if your aim is simply to prevent another team from pre-poaching him, but I assume if Nabby signs with Philly post-July-1st they surrender the pick still.

So it’s not much, but it’s not meaningful to Nabby, either. A fairly needless expense.

okay unrelated to Nabby but related to the Sharks … I’m annoyed with the schedule. I went to a Sharks / Ducks game down in Anaheim last season and this season wanted to do the same but with the Kings. Only thing is that the game has to be on a Saturday. Damn if the only Saturday game is New Year’s Day.

UGH! I am pretty damn sure that won’t work for me or my niece.

It’s better to watch New Year’s Eve games on TV anyway since Jimmy is usually drunk.

It’s Always Nabby in Philadelphia

Hello, fellow American. This you should sign me. I leave power. Good. Thank you. Thank you. If you sign me, I am hot. Goals against average. They’ll be lower, son. The democratic contract for me is the right thing to do, Philadelphia. So do.
