If Kariya retires, did he have a Hall of Fame career?
Hey there Battlers of California, it's your former buddy and now sworn enemy (right?) James O'B. While Paul Kariya slummed it up in St. Louis, Nashville and (ugh) Colorado, I think we can all agree he was a Duck at heart [when he wasn't getting vehemently booed during every home game since he left the team ... *cough*].
Anyway, in case you haven't heard, Kariya won't play for the Ducks or anyone else during the 2010-11 season. On the heels of that sad news, I decided to ask PHT readers if they think his possibly-ended career is Hockey Hall of Fame worthy. I'd really appreciate if you voted in the poll and feel free to discuss the topic in the BoC/PHT comments to boot.
I'm particularly intrigued to hear if Earl Sleek thinks his (assumptive) childhood hero is HHOF-worthy. Do tell, folks, do tell.

Nope. I’d take some convincing — he was a cup finalist once, and I don’t know that he ever made it past the second round at any other point in his career.
Good player, definitely a big part of my hockey infancy, but not a HOFer.

Yeah, I voted no. Solid career, but not HOF-worthy.

Even though I'm a King fan, I kinda have to say YES.
Here is his numbers during the regular season;
Games Played: 989
Goals: 402
Assists: 587
Points: 989
But here is his Post Season numbers;
Games Played: 46
Goals: 16
Assist: 23
Points: 39
There are players in the hall with similar, if not lesser numbers that Kariya. So it pains me to say it, but yes.
Interesting. I was kind of leaning towards no, but after seeing the numbers, it’s a possibility. Is being a point a game player enough?
Should things like growing the game in SoCal be considered? It’s hockey related and people don’t make the HHOF necessarily because of just their play.
