Talks with Karyia?..would we go penguins?

I heard Kariya might be in the talks..with him the possible mix its impossible to not go penguins 3 scoring lines...I think it would look like this with marchant and koivu interchangeable..
looking over the roster its apparent there actually trying to balance out and have LW and RW
not sure about the blueline..theres my best guess...they really need one more guy and then let Sbisa fight it out with fowler, festerling, syvert, mikkalson etc.

I have a feeling there will be a mutual playing less minutes for selanne..hell be more power play specialist and faceoff (i think hes good on the right side?)

Heh, I like the mixing but I’m not sure Todd Marchant will ever center something called a “scoring line” ever again in his career. Sadly, it’ll always just be the “Marchant Line”. :)

look at is as playing the ruchin role minus assisting on anything…just the defensive part and looking comical with his red 5 oclock shadow

I think the first secerio would/should be more like this:
RYAN-GETZ-PERRY
KARIYA-KOIVU-SELANNE
BLAKE-MARCHANT-LUPUL
VORUS-CHIPCHURA-BODIE-SEXTON-ETM or whoever
I would put RYAN on the first line because it was the best line in the NHL at times. Kariya,Koivu, Selanne would be a second line for sure.
Third like you can swap sides w/ Lupul and Blake, and if they do not work well move one of them back and forth to the foruth line swaping for the one skilled guy on that line.
Fourth line would be 2 checkers and a fast skilled guy, or a checkers, a shutdown fwd, and a fast skilled guy.
I think the problem with this is that it really weakens that third line too much. When Lupul was actually healthy last year, he was tearing it up when playing with Getzlaf and Perry. Ryan has shown that he can play with anybody and actually make them a decent line. So he’s a better fit to be moved around than Lupul is. By moving Lupul up to the top line, it doesn’t really make the line any weaker, but it vastly improves that third line.
But they all dont get equal ice time. The first line will get way more ice time than the third.
Would you rather have Ryan eating up 20 minutes a night and Lupul getting 9-12
or visa-versa.
The best combo i have seen RC put out on the floor the last three seasons has been at times that Ryan-Getz-Perry line. Give them some extended time to play together and people might be talking about that line on the EAST COAST.
thats the boggle..u want ryan playing as much as possible…but i like him getting a lot more ice time..u make ryans line the 2ns line..and let the old foggies teemu and karyia form a 3rd scoring line…id rather sacrifice there time…i do like lupul up top
maybe u double shift the young legs of ryan make him earn that paycheck ont he 3rd or 4th as well to keep his ice time rolling

Actually I would hope to never see any of our forwards getting 20 minutes a night. That’s too many for a forward. I think 18 is really the max a forward should be getting. I do understand your ice time argument though. You definitely want Ryan playing a lot.
I guess that’s the real problem with having three legitimate scoring lines. There’s never enough ice time for the players. Otherwise, you would just stack your team with scorers and not have fighters or checkers. That’s the one thing with goal scorers. They definitely need the ice time to be able to score goals.

Actually it would not be that bad to copy Pitts, but I do not think our current coach can adjust HIS coaching style to pull it off.
another good point mike…is Gorilla head the right coach?(cue the sleek donkey kong pic)..i think so..hes got to get the forwards other than koivu to backcheck…we are what we are and murray is responsible for it..he should axe gorilla head early if he doesnt think its working out…cuz otherwise it will be his ass

I really loved the dynamic of the 2007 team, and if was a great fit for RC’s style.
Basically we had:
Skill / Speed line
Dump / chase skill line
Shutdown specialist line
BANGERS
That was a great team because you could not really beat it with the trap, and you could not really run and gun against it. But it does seem like they gave up on that style when they let Sammy go after they traded him and Moen, then Rob. I really thought they were going to bring them right back in the offseason after the initial ttrade. It sucks because they have the guys to replace Andy Mac’s speed now, and Ryan is Penner’s more than capable replacment. Defense is still fucked though, no matter how you slice it.
Would you rather go three scoring lines ala Pittsburg WITH RC as coach, or try to rebuild something like that 2007 dynamic?

id prefer 2007 but in order to make that happen we would need some stupid teams to take on some ridculous contracts from blake and lupul…cuz u cant pay them and sit them or make them checkers or bangers with karyia,selanne, the big 3, koivu takin the top 2 lines…
no were stuck with them…need to mold the team towards them

and like ive been harping..selannes line should be used sparingly…u really want selanne for PP time..id almost make them the 4th line..utilizing Bodie-chipchura-marchant against top lines
bring in voros and parros only when we need some ass kickers

I really feel like what our team is missing is a solid shut down center. Koivu is kind of a shut down guy and that’s only because he’s one of the few on the team that plays well on both sides of the puck. I would feel a lot better if we had a commited shutdown center.
I'm against sigs......Fuck.
