Time to reassign captains?

I think Perry would naturally look more like one of the Royal Navy Captains myself

Gizmo got me thinking when he talked about how getzlaf can't play without perry..and how we know ryan is thriving with perry and the way the season has played is it time to re-assign captians? It wont happen cuz gorilla head is a stubborn ass (which latley has been a good thing on line shuffling)..but lets have fun on our off day anyways...heres how I would do it

Perry - Captain

Lydman - Assitant

Koivu - Assistant

any of these 3 would be great captians as all 3 are leading by example...its obvious perry has matured (but not too much he still runs the occasional goalie..but thats all good)...but hes not taking as many penalties...Lydman needs no explanation the guy IS the ducks MVP with hiller and perry a close second. Koivu could be the better choice since its him explaining and fearless to the media when the ducks go on one of there slumps or have a bad game. All 3 are leading by example and making others around them better.

this won't happen cuz they don't want getz to lose confidence...but still somthing to chew on..on this day off

p.s. Im looking forward to the next ducks-blues game arent you?

p.s.s. someone mentioned feeling bad for the sharks...im almost there...losing your top goal scorer when your already starving for goals yikes!!

You’re right about it not happening, but Koivu should have been captain as soon as Niedermayer retired. I do like your Lydman reasoning, but does that guy ever speak? He might not be the best at communicating with the refs, but that’s really based on nothing but distant observation.

I do like how he wouldn’t whine about shit, though — that rarely gets us anywhere.

Who says Getz can’t play without Perry? Has Perry even missed a significant amount of time in his career? I think he missed sometime a few seasons ago but if Getz slumped without him that was prolly due to crappy wingers then.

Getz is the playmaker so naturally I would presume that Perry would be the one that is ineffective without him but he’s proved us wrong so far. That may be for a number of reasons though. One being, Ryan playing so well at C and the team really clicking.

Perry should never ever be Captain. Refs never give him the benefit of the doubt, he prolly can’t make a decent argument, and he’s a douche. I thought Koivu was really a no brainer but when you look at other teams and appointing their franchise players captain, I guess it was time for Getz.

I dont think any of the talking you see the captains have with the refs influence anything…so it probally doesnt matter..matters more what the captains do in the locker room and how they lead by example….stuff like work ethic, practice habits, film watching (im talking about on there own) etc…Im not sure whom on the ducks puts in that extra effort..but thats the guy u want captain
