Kings Gameday: Ol' Craig
First home game of Craig's Kings career was against the Phoenix Coyotes. The Kings were up 1 in the dying minutes of the game when they took 2 penalties almost immediately following each other. The Coyotes pulled their goaltender, giving them a 6-on-3 advantage.
The lone forward the Kings put out to face the onslaught? Ol' Craig.
Instead of trying to win the puck back, Craig instead pushed the puck past a surprised Mike Comrie and skated straight into the morass of Coyotes. Shane Doan tripped Craig in an attempt to steal the puck from him, killing the Coyotes' momentum.
That was the moment I decided Craig Conroy was one of the coolest dudes ever.
Prediction: Kings win, 4-2. Goals by Kopitar (x2), Mitchell and Stoll.

I always liked Craig Conroy. I think he was a little out of place on the team, since they kept trying to slot him in as a first or second line center. If he had been allowed to be what Handzus is now, he would’ve been dynamite.

Nothing like getting all excited that there is a new post here at BoC, only to find out you moved your post up. Such a slap in the face. :)

I’m not liking these penalties. Calgary is so dumb.
