Who Dean Drafted

*One guy drafted was drafted from a Canadian college in Quebec but I had no idea where to put him so I stuck him here.

**Includes both college players (4) and kids from the USHL and NAHL (5).

***Dean was appointed general manager 2 months before this draft so he used Dave Taylor's scouts. You can tell.

****Total includes Oscar Moller, although he should probably be considered a European player. I don't know if Dean would have drafted him if he hadn't already come over, though.

Dean loves English-speaking Canada and the United States, hates everyone else. Well, OK, he sometimes likes Russians.

It's interesting that Dean has primarily drafted forwards from the WHL and defensive players from the Q since historically the WHL is known as a defensive league and the Q is known as an offensive one. That has changed in recent years and it seems like Dean has followed that change.

Who are the Kings going to draft?

I'm going to guess that the Kings will trade up to either draft a Western Canadian or American forward in the 2nd round. They are not going to draft a non-Russian European because Dean hates them. Before the pick, they'll talk about Drew Doughty even though he's not even there. The pick will cause the TSN booth to shuffle their papers and stare blankly for a few seconds before Bob McKenzie rattles off something. Pierre McGuire will annoy everybody.

You know, the draft is one area where I’m not going to fault announcers for sounding like tools. There’s so much goddamn time to fill waiting and waiting, I doubt anybody could fill it effectively.

They should have extended Jay Mohr’s contract an extra couple of days just because he seems to be such a willing scapegoat for poor entertainment value — it’s his fault this yawnfest didn’t translate into television gold!

i still cant get over the whole akward scene where William Fichtner invite mohr and his boyfriend over to try to sell them off brand merchandise…then he invites more boyfriend in his room and william is fuckin naked telling him to smell some colonge ..like its not fuckin thing…who the fuck thinks up these fuckin ideas?

point of the story…mohr was probally 300 lbs lighter in that movie

Emerson Etem should be pretty good. He had 80 points in the WHL on a line with Linden Vey, a Kings prospect. He tweets stuff like this:

I’m more comfortable with Murray than that dumb bastard Burke, that’s for sure.

He also tweets gems like, “Buffalo is worse than medicine hat.” I think that was during the WJC.

Another black hockey player complained about Buffalo on twitter once, he was strung with some bad luck in recent years. Good thing his bad mojo won’t be coming back to the Ducks next season. =)

Can’t say I blame Dean. Smyth took away some of Deans negotiating leverage when he said he wanted to go back to Edmonton so badly. He was like Ray in Ghostbusters when they were trying to purchase the property.
