Todd Marchant Retires

Marchant becomes the head of player development/head of t-shirt design for the Ducks. Hopefully this means his stupid kid gets cut loose.

(But seriously, that's 3 1/2 minutes of penalty kill time per game the Ducks now need to replace.)

Well, as expected, Paul Kariya announces his retirement, too. If it were up to me, Ducks would retire #9 and make B-Ry find another number, but we’ll see.

IMO, #8 should go up into the rafters first . . . and that cannot happen in 2011–12. They still shouldn’t issue #9 though now that Kariya is officially retired.

That would be pretty cool . . . Kariya was the first Ducks fan favorite even before Teemu came along so it might be alright to put #9 up there first. I still hope that he signs for a day with Anaheim so he can retire as a Duck . . . probably not going to happen though.

I’d retire #9, too. It would have been such a treat to see Kariya and Selanne together again, but it sounds like Kariya made the right choice. Best wishes to him, and I hope the Ducks organization does the right thing.
