Because I am such a slave to Samsung national TV scheduling. :)
Well, not much else to report on, so I filtered down the NHL's newly-released national TV schedule down to the BoC-relevant games. A fairly strong showing this season with 29 games overall, including one Kings-Sharks tilt.

At the bottom I've tallied the home and away games shown by team -- Kings lead the pack, but largely because they have more earlier-in-the-day home games, it seems. Only one BoC game on the entire national schedule has a Pacific start time after 6 pm.
For most of us, this probably won't matter too much -- with TV packages being what they are, most fans who care enough can watch whatever games they want. But still, for some of us, less Brian Hayward is a very, very, very good thing. :)
Anyways, go national exposure.

Haha MC did a pretty good job, a lot better than his tenure with Calgary but once a little pressure was on, he folded like a cheap lawn chair.
he reminded me of wiley e coyote when he would overrun a cliff…he’s doing good for awhile somehow magically..but then the bottom drops out from under him

I guess national exposure’s probably overrated a bit anyways. Perry got his Hart, and I think the Ducks were televised once on Versus last season. Of course, it’s important he was going against a Vancouver Canuck — against a Ranger or Flyer it’d be way different.

They have more national exposure because they won a cup. But that doesn’t mean anyone wants to watch them play! ;)
In actuality, this team didn’t change much at all during the off season. if you base that on last seasons success and failure, it’s not overly surprising.

Yeah but it’s not just the city size. Los Angeles takes away from the market of the Ducks. The Sharks own northern California. Just saying.

More like the Ducks take away from the Kings market. Los Angeles just has that brand name recognition around the country. Kind of like how the Rangers get on national T.V. all the time, even though they’ve been mediocre for a long time.
Dump and chase
This is all silly, especially since the main criterion for national TV exposure is how many people will watch a game from outside the primary market, not within it.
One problem with Ducks fans is we’re too happy in California — none of us move anywhere else. Similar dynamics for Kings and Sharks fans, I’d think, too.

Not really. The 2/19 game is probably Hockey Day in America because Pitt and Buffalo play at the same time on NBC as well, in addition to the Bruins, Wild, Hawks, and Blues playing the late afternoon game, meaning regional NBC broadcasts.
Now as to why the NHL scheduled the only West Coast team playing on NBC that day to face-off at 9:30AM local time, I have no clue.

Not too happy that north of the border, the only Ducks game on national TV is vs. Winnipeg (on CBC) and that no Ducks games will be on NBC (which is available in Canada). There were more national games last year. :(
And I happen to like Brian Hayward. :P
