That movie was not as scary as it was hyped up to be
The scariest part is the girl in the mirror. My friend has the exact same mirror at the end of a long hallway and it freaked me out every time.

Scary is subjective of course. For me this is the scariest movie I have ever seen. But it did help that I watched it alone, in the dark, on VHS.

What's VHS?
Leslie Knope: "...but it has a lot of heart."
April Ludgate: "That's what people always say when something sucks."

Exactly. I wonder what kids in the future will think about “The Ring,” because of this weird archaic aspect of it.

Very Hella Scary. It’s a special mode on Meg’s Trinitron.

GO SHARKS!
That movie freaked the shit out of my oldest. We watch alot of horror shows, but this is the one that scared him. He says a girl coming out of a tv was just wrong. Took him several times to get over being freaked.
Unsympathetic mother that I am just laughed. :)

The Ring…interesting.
Okay, just a couple of questions for you Meg.
1. Are any of the movies on your list* made before, say, 1970?
2. Are there any movies like Real Steel, given that we know your history with robots and their feelings?
* – I was considering starting that query with “Have you ever seen a movie…”
It is that thing that I sent to you.
1. A quick look ahead finds a couple of movies from the early 80s, but nothing earlier than that. I have seen older movies, but most of them suck.
2. I can think of 2 movies in my top 40 that feature robots in some way. I didn’t see Real Steel, otherwise that would be the only movie I would ever talk about.

So many good memories about this movie.
I went to the AMC Mercado intending to go watch something else, but it was sold out and this was opening night for the Ring, so I decided to watch this instead. I remember people getting up to leave after they rescued Rachel from the well, and then people standing in the aisles for the final five minutes or so. I also remember watching this later at Stanford and having four girls run out of the auditorium after the movie ended screaming.
My favorite memory, though, is watching it on DVD and watching the cursed tape extra with my friends, followed by one of my friends secretly calling the wall phone of the room from his cell. Good times.

Sharks having trouble with the Hawks speed, apart from that 30 second bit. Poor breakout, too. They’re forcing passes through bodies, or just chipping things back to center ice.

Is it me, or have Comcast’s cameramen not been on top of the puck as well as they have in the past? I’ve found myself looking offscreen a whole lot more this season for some reason.

Sharks have a terrible PP. They are way too patient on the PP and don’t force the issue in front of the net, much less get in front of the goaltender.

Tap-In Goals and One-Timers
I can’t help but notice how the Blackhawks looked to set up cross-ice passes for either tap-in goals or near-net one-timer chances looking at some empty net. And each time the players are in the correct position, in terms of right or left-handedness.
The Sharks could and should learn a lot from that style, as it is the most deadly means to score in today’s NHL (on the first shot). For some reason the Sharks do not do this unless the shooter is all the way out at the point or the faceoff dot. They prefer to set up shots that have a much lower percentage chance of going in.
