This also reminds me of one of my favorite books as a little kid: The Monster at the End of This Book, starring lovable, furry old Grover.
Spoilers: basically he freaks out when he sees the title of the book and then tries to forcibly keep you from turning each page by building brick walls and stuff because he’s terrified of monsters, but then it turns out he’s the monster at the end of the book and all is well!

We’ve seen the Ducks “get chances” and be “unable to buy one” for approximately 38 games this season. At some point you become unimpressed with “almost”.
