Ducks GM puts ‘for sale’ signs on everyone but Selanne, Koivu
The Ducks have virtually no shot at the playoffs. In a parity-filled league, there aren't a ton of sellers at this point in the season. But Anaheim, as signaled by their GM tonight, is certainly one of them.
hot dawg!
there hasnt been much to fanpost about lately...and with my life pretty much sucking and not much to laugh about there...its been slim pickings
theres always hot chicks though
this season is kinda turning into a training camp..seeing who stays and who goes...and shit barstool might start shipping out players(see above link)...just dont trade fowler or ryan...or ill shit on your lawn murray

Makes perfect sense
Why not keep the old guys with possible deadline trade value, and trade your young core? Great idea.

because they’re the ones with no-movement clauses?

You could ask them to waive their NMCs. Nah, that’s CRAZY talk. Better to try to completely replace your core with equal value trades.

with a gun to my head…id say keep everyone..and only trade if we get some crazy kings ransom…let the expiring contracts…exprie..and pick up some new free agents..with the extra money..and hope a full camp with kirby system pays off…

If I were the Ducks I’d go pretty hard after Tim Gleason and someone like Jarret Stoll in the off-season.
so your talking about players who can play defense…ya that would probally be good

Yeah, this season is toast for them. This is what happens when you double-down on career years from a couple players. Their defense needs help, Hiller lost his game, and their bottom lines are non-factors. Let Getzlaf/Perry/Ryan taste some failure as motivation for next year, and give their prospects some cups of coffee as auditions.
Not that I give a shit, or expect Barstool to have that kind of patience.

What’s the Sharks excuse? They have great depth on D, at forward and a compitent goalie. Yet year after year…
At least we suck for a reason.=/
i thought i read someone where selanne..wouldnt be opposed to it…..you would think he cares about the ducks franchise..hed want to help them out…
but i dunno…

Does Murray think if he keeps saying that he’s not rebuilding then people won’t realize that the Ducks are, in fact, rebuilding?
hes a snake oil salesmen..or whatever..doesnt that apply here?

He’s right, he’s not. He’s running this team into the ground like he did with Chicago. Rebuilding might make losing worth it, Murray just doesn’t know how to be a GM.
If you imagine a salt shaker in your hand, tilt your head back
and act like you're shaking salt into your mouth; you will taste salt if you concentrate hard enough.
The Ducks are lucky because they already have core players: they have Getzlaf, Ryan, Perry, and (it looks like) Fowler. They don’t need to bottom out because they don’t need elite talent, they just need good talent. The Ducks’ problem isn’t that Ryan-Getzlaf-Perry, Lydman-Lubo, Hiller are underperforming; the problem is that when those guys underperform they’re completely fucked because everyone else on the team (minus Selanne & Fowler) is horrible.
Murray can say he’s not rebuilding all he wants but then he trades Pronger for a bunch of draft picks and a young, developing defenseman. He can say he’s not rebuilding but then he doesn’t sign free agents in lieu of giving opportunities to a bunch of young forwards. He can say he’s not rebuilding but almost every action he makes is the action of a guy who is trying to rebuild the talent around his core players.
Murray’s waving around Teemu to distract everyone and keep the fanbase afloat in the hopes that the Ducks’ young guys (Holland, Etem, Smith-Pelley, Palmieri, Schultz, Gibson/Bobkov if Hiller doesn’t right the ship) are ready to replace Teemu once he retires. And he better hope they are because the Ducks’ fanbase is collapsing pretty hard and if they’re not good once Teemu’s gone then they’re pretty boned.
because the Ducks’ fanbase is collapsing pretty hard
In some ways, I’m kind of excited about this. The Honda Pond is much easier to deal with when there’s less-than-capacity crowds. And I wouldn’t mind a price cut, either. :)

The first couple of seasons after Lombardi took over the Kings and started rebuilding from the foundation up, you could get seats right next the ice at a great discount through StubHub, especially if you went for a weeknight game. Now, not so much.
The same dynamic should be working for the Ducks fan base now. I’ll bet you could get a pretty good de facto price cut on seats if you looked at StubHub.

I’m ok with the Pronger trade. I’d pick Scotty over Pronger every day of the week and twice on Sundays. We got a pretty decent return if only Lupul had regained his form prior to shipping him to TO. If Bruce came on board at the start of the season, we’d be a lot better over all but I hate the “what if” game.
We overachived last season and I’m not too surprised over our suckyness. Sure, I didn’t expect us to be this bad but what’ya gona do? Murray was a decent GM the first year he stepped up but since then…most of his decision haven’t panned out. He is leaving too much up to chance. The internal budget doesn’t help matters either…
Yeah, I don’t see where the Ducks need to blow up the team. They need depth, not a complete makeover. They’ve got a very good first line to build around, which means (with the exception of Fowler, to anchor the blue line long term) that they don’t need the young guys to become stars; they just need them to fall into place behind Ryan-Getzlaf-Perry.
Hiller strikes me as a bit of question mark, though. He’s still a fine goalie, but did anyone every figure out what caused his vertigo, and is there reason to believe that it won’t be a problem again? Mystery ailments are not a positive indicator of your durability.

you know people..we wouldnt be alive without “yo mamma”…..so quick to ship her off
