I hope you enjoyed the above slideshow. You weird motherfucker.
Anyway, I'm writing this Monday morning, the morning after Ryan Garbutt murdered Dustin Penner by steamrolling the pancake-eater with a dirty, flying headshot (in a game where the Ducks steamrolled the Dallas Stars 6-3). But this is well before any supplemental discipline has been handed down to Garbutt, so we're not too sure what's coming, but something is definitely coming. We do know that Garbutt is getting an in-person hearing (as opposed to a phone conference), which means he's eligible for a suspension over 5 games, but doesn't necessarily mandate that he'll get more than 5.
Yikes. Hopefully Penner recovers quickly and Garbutt sits for a very long time.
On a more positive note, our horrible power play is slightly less horrible. Out of 5 power plays Sunday night, the Ducks converted 2 of them. That's nothing amazing, but sure is better than the 4.4% effectiveness we were previously looking at. As of this writing, that moves us from last-in-league to third-from-last-in-the-league with 9.4% - PROGRESS!
After a perfect five game homestand that extended our winning streak to a franchise recording-tying 7 games, the Ducks now start an 8 game road trip, beginning in Toronto. Let's hope we can ride that 9.4% power play to victory!
Gameday Prediction
You'll be seeing a lot of Phil Kessel.
Classic Moment
To help commemorate the Ducks' 20th year this season, each gameday I'll be posting a clip of a classic moment from the team's history against that night's opponent. Here is today's...
On January 31, 2010 the Anaheim Ducks traded their Stanley Cup winning goaltender, Jean-Sebastien Giguere, to Toronto in exchange for Jason Blake and Vesa Toskala.
