I've whined about the Ducks' power play before, but there's not much else to talk about so I'm going to whine about it again.
The Ducks are still the worst in the league on the power play, converting only 8.2% of the time. It's frustrating to watch, of course, and there's no easy solution to solve whatever the hell it is that is preventing them from scoring a god damn goal on the man advantage. In fact, the team has allowed half as many shorthanded goals (2) than it has scored on the power play (4). Hahahahaha, fuck.
On Twitter a few games back, it led to me making this remark:
Someone should create @DidDucksConvertPP and set up a bot to just tweet "no" at random intervals
— jer (@JerMeansWell) October 22, 2013
It was a dumb joke, but not too long afterward I saw this notification:
I'm not too sure who actually took my idea and ran with it (I have my suspicions...), but the results are pretty fun (read: depressing). Instead of a "no" at random intervals, the account is live-tweeting out the results of Ducks power plays, and here is everything it has tweeted since it started on 10/22/2013:
No

And finally, after 15 failed attempts, something glorious happened:
Now, I'm fairly positive that prior to that "yes," there were even more failed power plays that @DidDucksScorePP might have missed between the time the account started and to this most recent tweet, but if we take just the 1 for 16 that the account notated, that indicates our power play has had a 6.25% effective rate, which isn't too far off from the team's overall power play effective rate of 8.2%
It can only go uphill from here!!!
... Right?
Gameday Prediction
Rickard Rakell scores a power play goal because none of our regular roster players know how these things work.
Classic Moment
To help commemorate the Ducks' 20th year this season, each gameday I'll be posting a clip of a classic moment from the team's history against that night's opponent. Here is today's...
Chris Pronger traded to the Philadelphia Flyers during the 2009 Entry Draft. In return, the Ducks acquire Joffrey Lupul, Luca Sbisa, 2009 1st rounder, 2010 1st rounder and conditional 3rd rounder (2010 or 2011)
