Doubling the NHL. A 60 team league?

10 divisions of 6 teams each, 12 from Canada, 1 from Mexico, and 47 from the United States, including 5 from California. Maybe by 2030?

Atlantic: Boston, Brooklyn, Halifax, Hartford, New Jersey and New York.

Northeast: Hamilton, Markham, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec and Toronto.

Metro: Baltimore, Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

Capital: Carolina, Cincinnati, Louisville, Nashville, Norfolk and Washington.

Southeast: Atlanta, Birmingham, Florida, Jacksonville, New Orleans and Tampa Bay.

Central: Chicago, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Minnesota and Saint Louis.

Southwest: Arizona, Dallas, Houston, Mexico City, Oklahoma City and San Antonio.

Mountain: Albuquerque, Boise, Colorado, Las Vegas, Omaha and Utah.

Northwest: Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Seattle, Vancouver and Winnipeg.

Pacific: Anaheim, Los Angeles, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego and San Jose.

Each team would play a 74-game regular season, including 2 home and 2 road games vs. their 5 division rivals = 20 games, + a single game vs. the other 54 teams = 54 games.

The playoffs would include the 10 division winners ( seeded 1 thru 10 ) + 12 wild cards ( seeded 11 thru 22 ), who would play best 2 of 3 preliminary series'. The round of 16, quarterfinals and semifinals would be best 3 of 5. Only the Stanley Cup Finals would remain best 4 of 7. Conferences would be eliminated, so 2 teams from the same division could meet in the Stanley Cup Finals ( Kings vs. Ducks? ). It is also possible for all 6 teams from 2 divisions to qualify for the playoffs, while 7 other divisions might only have 1 representative each.

This FanPost was posted by a fan, and it probably sucks and is dumb.
