Happy New Year! Thanks to Spade for all his wonderful New Year's wishes. At least, that's what I think he was talking about. Honestly I can't understand a word the guy writes.
And additional thanks to all the readers and commentators for visiting us here at Battle of California during the past year. Let's make this the best 2011 ever!
Moving on to hockey: the Sharks and Kings match-up again tonight. The game is scheduled for 6 PM. It's an indoor game, so if it starts to rain the game will still happen at 6 PM, because that's what indoors is for.
Since the Winter Classic got moved to 8 PM Eastern, that means that for us here in the best of all possible time zones it will be on at...um...5 PM? I think. What am I, a mathologist? Anyways, that means that it's going to overlap a lot with this game. Which will you be watching?
The Sharks are coming off of a strong win against Chicago (thanks in part to my voodoo sacrifices in the gameday comments) while the Kings suffered a savage beating from the Flyers after collectively forgetting how to play defense.The Sharks would REALLY like to put together a couple of wins in a row, but the Kings are a good team that will be looking to show that their last outing was just a stupid fluke, like the first election of George W. Bush*.
Before I wrap up here, I have a message from Rudy:
I'm not here for the January 1 game but if you could somehow work in that Trevor Lewis looks like either Ed Norton in Primal Fear or Chibs, the Irish guy with the Chelsea Smile from Sons of Anarchy, I'd appreciate it.
There you go, buddy! Seamless.
Prediction: Sharks win 3-2. The Sharks trail early until I sacrifice a goat, then Patrick Marleau gets possessed and scores two goals in eight seconds. Logan Couture gets the game winner.
* = That's right bitches. I'm edgy and political.
