Fuck, I'm nervous about this game today. I hate playing these guys. Sure, they're not what they once were, but they're still dangerous and they're still the measuring stick for the rest of the league. I just hope the Kings can hang with them, that'd tell me a lot about this team. Furthermore, I... wait, shit, we're playing the Red Wings? I thought we were playing the Stars. Phew, thank God. Nevermind what I said, it's just the Red Wings. Don't worry, everyone, it's just the Red Wings!
The Wings are going through a bit of a lull right now, much like the Kings did just a few games ago. Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg aren't playing that well, they're reeling from being beat by the Sharks again and Mike Babcock has issued an open challenge to his team:
"Do we want to be a real good team or not?'' Babcock said. "Life just doesn't go on for you. You make a decision that it's going to go good for you. You decide for yourself that you're going to be successful. You decide for yourself that you're going to make a difference. You decide for yourself that you're going to have a good career."
All this points to the Kings getting their asses kicked tonight. Luckily, the Kings are one of the few teams that can actually match up with the Red Wings down the middle, and I expect the Kings will put Mike Richards on Datsyuk and let Zetterberg try to handle Kopitar. Should be a fun game!
Finally, I was reading Winging it in Motown to get a feel how the Wings have been playing (why are they freaking out, they're outshooting opponents by like 8 shots a game and have lost only 2 in a row) and I found the most Red Wingian sentence ever written:
Simple math dictates we should win every game unless something is wrong
Hahahaha, never change Wings fans.
Prediction: Kings win, 4-2. Goals by Loktionov, Voynov, and Kopitar...ov.
