Uncle Joey Reflects on California Hockey

New, 59 comments

It's been a while since we've talked California hockey around here, so here's Uncle Joey to remind us all about it.

Full House

It'd be hard to determine it by looking at the past couple of months or so of posts around this place, but in theory this blog is at least marginally about not just hockey, but hockey in California. Since we haven't discussed California at all around here lately, and rarely discuss hockey in general, I thought I'd make a post to get us all back on track.

We're all pretty rusty on the topic, so I found this video of Uncle Joey to refresh our memory. You probably remember Uncle Joey (Dave Coulier) from the late 80's/early 90's hit sitcom Full House. If not, you're probably some sort of asshole.

Uncle Joey on Star Search

Anyone who has ever played hockey in California or watched one of our teams knows this description is 100% accurate with no variance whatsoever. Uncle Joey sure is a funny comedian.

Hopefully everyone has found this as informative as I have, and it'll help Dunn and Mr. Megalodon Q. Pennyfeathers get back into the spirit of California hockey as much as it's helped me.

Interesting postscript to all of this: According to his Wikipedia entry, Coulier did actually play hockey in high school, playing alongside future NHLer John Blum. Coulier also introduced Candace Cameron Bure (DJ Tanner) to retired NHLer Valeri Bure, whom she would eventually marry. Candace is the sister of Kirk Cameron, and now both Kirk and Candace have become the crazy type of evangelical Christian.
