When the NHL first announced that Anaheim and Los Angeles would be playing an outdoor game this season, Minnesota Wild fans threw a hissy fit because they hadn't yet realized how little of a shit everyone else cares about their awful team in their miserable state.
That was in April, so surely after 9 months cooler heads have prevailed and Wild fans have had time to reflect on the quality of their team, the rest of the country's opinion of their state, and why the NHL wouldn't want to host a game there just yet, right?
Nope.
A quick twitter search turned up dozens of oblivious idiots still whining about how unfair the NHL is treating them. Here's a quick sampling:
It is absurd that California got an outdoor game before #Minnesota did. #smh @NHL #StadiumSeries @mnwild #StateOfHockey #mnwild

Also, an NHL team in LA got an outdoor hockey game before the #MNWild. That is just sick and appalling.

Ducks Kings from Dodger Stadium. How does L.A. get an outdoor game before the state of hockey? #minny #mnwild #getittogethernhl

@NHL Minnesota Wild fans would really appreciate an outdoor game soon! #mnwild

The fact the freaking Los Angeles California gets an outdoor NHL game before Minnesota literally makes me cry #SomethingIsWrongWithTheWorld

Here is your reminder that the NHL has chosen to host an outdoor NHL game in California before Minnesota, Ontario, OR Quebec.

Outdoor hockey is great but in LA when it's 80 degrees? C'mon how does LA get a game before Minnesota!?
— NYR - FCIM (@Mike_Randazzo34) January 26, 2014
And perhaps my favorite...
This stadium series is pathetic. Every time Minnesota does not get an outdoor game the @NHL looks worse and worse. #bringonetoMinnesota

No, Mr. @JFoley1997, the real embarrassment to the NHL comes every time a sports fan outside of Minnesota stumbles upon a Wild game and has to suffer through their predictably mediocre play.
You want the NHL to spotlight the WIld, Minnesota? Then put together a decent team, play a game that the NHL wouldn't have to apologize for later.
Cry about LA or Anaheim getting special treatment all you want, but that's what happens when you're a recent cup winner or start leading the league for a few years.
Earn your outdoor game, Minnesota. You're not entitled to one just because it's cold outside.
Gameday Prediction
It's too hot outside in California for Wild players and the game has to be delayed until the team is done throwning their temper tantrum and has sat in time out long enough to think about what they've done.
Classic Moment
To help commemorate the Ducks' 20th year this season, each gameday I'll be posting a clip of a classic moment from the team's history against that night's opponent. Here is today's...
