The Ducks are spreading their talent out all over the 2014 Olympic games, but no one really cares about the Sharks' or Kings' talent. Ducks @ Predators.

Great teams are, of course, made up of great players. So it's no surprise that so many players from the Anaheim Ducks' roster have found their way on to national teams' rosters for the upcoming Winter Olympics. Eight Ducks were invited to represent their countries (though Saku Koivu declined). The Kings only have 6, and the Sharks have an embarrassingly low 4 because they are absolute garbage.

Let's take a look at all of them.

Olympic Ducks

  • Ryan Getzlaf (Canada)
  • Corey Perry (Canada)
  • Sami Vatanen (Finland)
  • Teemu Selanne (Finland)
  • Jakob Silfverberg (Sweden)
  • Jonas Hiller (Switzerland)
  • Cam Fowler (United States)

Really no surprises here. Of course Perry and Getzlaf were going to be asked to return to Team Canada to help lead them back to gold, and of course Selanne is going to make a 6th appearance for Team Finland.

Even more of a no-brainer, elite defender Cam Fowler will represent Team USA as the American Hero he is (despite being Canadian), as he's one of the NHL's best defensemen and clear front-runner for the Norris Trophy this year.

Olympic Kings

  • Drew Doughty (Canada)
  • Jeff Carter (Canada)
  • Slava Voynov (Russia)
  • Anze Kopitar (Slovenia)
  • Jonathan Quick (United States)
  • Dustin Brown (United States)

It must be uncomfortable for Team USA, who selected Quick as a gesture of goodwill but assumed he'd still be injured and have to decline to play. Unfortunately they misjudged and now have to deal with an incompetent goaltender.

Olympic Sharks

Marc-Edouard Vlasic (Canada)
Patrick Marleau (Canada)
Antti Niemi (Finland)
Joe Pavelski (United States)

Oh, that's a pretty cute list you got there, San Jose. It's a good size.

Good luck, Battle of California Olympians!

For the record the Nashville Predators, tonight's opponent, have a whopping list of two whole Olympians on their team (Shea Weber for Canada, Roman Josi for Switzerland), because they too are absolute garbage.

Gameday Prediction

Ducks light up Nashville with an Olympic torch.

Classic Moment

To help commemorate the Ducks' 20th year this season, each gameday I'll be posting a clip of a classic moment from the team's history against that night's opponent. Here is today's...
