This is the Ducks' 5th straight game against a Canadian team (6 if you count the Minnesota Wild, and you should, because America doesn't want to claim Minnesota), and after this we still have two more Canadian teams to go. It's been a pretty dull stretch, as Canada is not very good at hockey and Anaheim has rolled through all teams with ease thus far. It's not until December 22nd that the Ducks break the cycle of Canadian games and face California's own San Jose Sharks. It'll be nice to get back to a geographic region where hockey is played skillfully and a winning culture is truly celebrated.
Anyway, tonight's opponent, the Toronto Maple Leafs, are on a 5-game winning streak and could actually be the team to combo-break the Ducks' typical domination over the Great White North. Anaheim is still mired in injury and missing beloved face-of-the-league Corey Perry, and it's early enough in the season that the Leafs are still giving their fans a glimmer of hope, what with the illusion of relevance. It should be an interesting game, at least.
Anyway, with all of this talk of Canada, let's get to know the people of Canada a little better...
