The Blackhawks are better than the Sharks.
I know, it sucks. But it's true. We're all adults here, right? We can face the truth.
The Blackhawks have more points than the Sharks AND better advanced stats. They have a better goal differential and they're coming off a win, while the Sharks have lost three straight and barely scored a single goal in all three of those games combined.
So the Blackhawks, by any intelligent way of measuring things, are the better team.
But you know what? The Sharks are better than the Flames and the Oilers, too. The Sharks are better than the Flames and Oilers by a much wider margin than the Blackhawks are better than the Sharks, and we all know how those last two games turned out for San Jose.
Because hockey is funny, sometimes. Funny or dumb or maddening, depending on your perspective.
The Sharks have earned a bit of good luck, and tonight would be a good time for it to show up.
