How the Almighty Connor McDavid has fallen...

Imagine being 18 and touted as the next Wayne Gretzky. McJesus they will call you. Your face will be photoshopped on images of the Almighty. It will be passed around the rink for others just to touch and be enlightened. You will be the Next Big Thing.

What if the burden of all this was too much to bear for a kid? After all, Even Hockey'sFuture rated your probability of success as a C. Two other players scored more than you in the OHL. Your teammate Dylan Strome scored more, and yet still, you are drafted to The Great One's team. Number 1 overall.

After a rough start, the Oilers, your team, become dead last in the Western Conference, tied for dead last in the league at the All-Star break. Already fans are eyeing an American to be the Next Next Big Thing. Your stats are down. Ice time has dwindled down to 0 a game. You haven't been in the starting line up for over 30 games. You're not even selected as an All-Star. As a result, they ship you out of town.

You are 19 now, all grown up and toiling away in the AHL, practicing with the Condors in Bakersfield California and not even cracking their starting lineup. You get a jersey, a helmet, but you don't even get a shift in a game. The first day you are with the Condors they win 6-3 without you on the ice. Further more, you are still in Bakersfield. Listening to Dwight Yoakam and Merle Haggard. Eating at the Crystal Palace and learning about Buck Owens and the Bakersfield sound.

Streets of Bakersfield

According to Time, Bakersfield is the Pollution capital of the US. CNNMoney has called Bakersfield the Most Polluted City. And this is where your team decides to send you.

This FanPost was posted by a fan, and it probably sucks and is dumb.
